Sorority recruitment: the one week to decide who your sisters will be for life. Each day filled to the brim with listening to door songs, meeting new PNMs (potential new members), making sure your hair is just right, remembering which houses you liked and of course, being yourself. With the shock of moving into college one day, deciding which sorority you'll join the next, we want to lighten the load for you a little! We created a guide to help you look your very best. So just take a deep breath and trust the system, you'll end up in the perfect sorority for you. Let us worry about what to wear.
Round One: Open House
Round One is actually two long days of running from house to house. With only 15 minutes to make an impression, we suggest you stand out. During this round you have to wear a t-shirt provided for you, so it's all about the bottom. Instead of jean shorts and some Tory Burch flip flops like everyone else. Try a jean skirt, black ruffle shorts, a cute sun hat, or some statement shoes. Your personality does matter, but with hundreds of girls to meet, you want to make sure they don't forget you.
Round Two: Philanthropy Day
Round Two is when you finally get to show your personality through your style. You still can't wear heels yet, but some colorful flats or wrap-up sandals will allow you to complete any look. Make a statement in a lace romper or your favorite swing dress. Remember, you'll still be walking around a lot so dress comfortably and leave the tight shoes at home.
Round Three: Sisterhood/House Tour Day
Round three is one of our favorites. You get to finally tour your potential new home and narrowing down your list gets easier. We suggest you go all out--grab your best heels and show 'em off! Don't worry, you can go from house to house in your flip flops and switch shoes before going in. We love silk Tolani tunics, honeybell flower embroidered dress, and bright shift dress with a scallop hem. Just wear a dress that makes you feel beautiful and go for it.
Round Four: Preference Night!
It is Pref Night! You made it! This is when you can pull all the stops. You might be only going to one or two houses, so don't worry about heel height. Wear a fancy dress, something that only gets pulled out of the closet for special occasions, and don't forget to accessorize! B.B. Lila and Roost are some of our favorite jewelry lines. Simple, quality pieces that will last for all those sisterhood moments to come.
Whew! That was a lot of ground we covered. Hopefully you feel more prepared walking into recruitment. Remember, it is more about who you are than how you look. We love the University of Oklahoma and all the organizations in it and we can't wait for everyone to move in for the Fall! Still shopping for recruitment?
